Recycling Cell Phones and Rechargeable Batteries

Recycling your unwanted cell phone is a great alternative to tossing them. There are many organizations you can donate your phone to. Donating your cell phone helps the environment and may also help out a charitable cause.

Big Sky Recycling has a website that shows you exactly how to recycle your old cell phone. They include the steps you need to take to erase your data and also give you shipping labels with instructions here https://www.bigskyrecycling.com/recycle

Verizon will recycle your cell phone and may possibly give you a trade-in allowance. Check it out here.    Staples recycles a plethora of tech items and you can see that list here. These are a few places that are willing to take your phone and recycle or reuse it. Here is a new one I found https://www.ecoatm.com/. It is just so easy to recycle your old phone; there is no reason not to. Watch the video here for more information.  All these organizations have drop-off locations or offer pre-paid shipping labels. Be sure to remove your SIM card before donating your phone.

Rechargeable batteries have a longer life span so we use fewer batteries and eliminate waste. However, rechargeable batteries still contain heavy metals such as nickel-cadmium. When disposing of rechargeable batteries we should recycle them. Stores like Home Depot, and Lowe’s will accept your rechargeable batteries.

Battery recycling and reuse, can make a positive impact towards our reduction of battery waste and pollution. It is so easy to do, and you will be doing your part to keep the planet a little greener too!
