Turmeric Ginger Lemon
Herbal remedies have been used for centuries to treat various ailments. Teas, including herbal and traditional ones like green tea, are popular for their potential health benefits. Research suggests certain teas may have anti-inflammatory properties, be rich in antioxidants, or support the immune system. This Turmeric Ginger Lemon recipe is a tasty anti-inflammatory gut-soothing tea that I think you will enjoy.

Ingredients:
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon #AD organic turmeric powder (or a 3-inch strip of fresh turmeric root, peeled)
- 1 teaspoon organic ginger powder (or a 4-inch strip of fresh ginger root, peeled)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- honey
- lemon slices or the juice of a full lemon (to taste)
Instructions:
- Put water into an #AD electric kettle and bring it to a full boil.
- Add #AD turmeric and ginger to the boiling water and reduce to simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. This will extract the beneficial compounds from the turmeric and ginger.
- Strain the tea into a cup through a #AD fine-mesh strainer to filter out the particles of turmeric and ginger.
- Add sweetener and lemon to taste. My sweetener of choice is #AD Manuka Honey.
- Enjoy!
Makes 4 servings Note: Be mindful that turmeric can stain.
Reasons to try using turmeric:
- Supports Heart Health by Lowering Cholesterol
Research suggests that turmeric may help lower total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, while also supporting overall heart health. Its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties may reduce the buildup in arteries and promote better circulation.⁴⁵ - Boosts Brain Function and Mental Well-Being
Turmeric’s antioxidants don’t just benefit the body—they also support brain health. According to Dr. Michael Green, turmeric may help protect brain cells from oxidative stress, lift mood, and even aid in managing symptoms of depression and Alzheimer’s.⁶ However, he notes that turmeric isn’t a quick fix: “Like many antidepressant medications, it can take around six weeks to notice significant changes.” - Helps Reduce Inflammation
Chronic inflammation is linked to a wide range of health issues, from fatigue and allergies to serious conditions like Alzheimer’s, asthma, and diabetes. According to registered dietitian Julie Cunningham, MPH, RD, LDN, CDE, IBCLC, turmeric may help reduce this inflammation and potentially lower the risk of these diseases.¹ - Supports Joint Health
Turmeric is well-known for easing joint pain and stiffness, especially in those with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Michael Green, a board-certified OB/GYN, notes that turmeric may help protect cartilage—the cushioning between bones—keeping joints healthier over time.² Some studies even suggest that 400 milligrams of curcumin, turmeric’s active compound, may be just as effective as acetaminophen in managing arthritis pain.³
